What are Black Virtual Assistants?
We Don’t Need Permission to Be Qualified. We Already Are.
Black Virtual Assistants is a thriving community of Black and Brown professionals in the service-based VA industry—dedicated to visibility, respect, and opportunity.
Who We Are
Black Virtual Assistants (BVA) is a resource hub and community for People of Color (POC) working in or entering the virtual assistant industry. We understand the barriers that come with being underestimated or viewed as a secondary option—not because of our skills, but because of who we are.
We’re not asking for a seat—we’re building the table. This is a space where our qualifications, experiences, and humanity are centered. Whether you’re just starting out or scaling your VA business, you belong here.
Why Join BVA?
- Free resources to grow your virtual assistant business
- Systems and strategies that actually work
- Weekly tips and insights for service-based providers
- A space that uplifts People of Color in this industry
- Exclusive opportunities to get seen, hired, and supported
BVA is NOT an agency. We have aligned ourselves with vetted Agencies and service-based providers. Our reputation is the fiber of our credibility. Hence, we would not recommend anyone that we wouldn’t work with ourselves. We refer business, there is no BVA team, we are collaborators.
How we differ from traditional courses. BVA is hands-on, invested, and present in your growth and success as a business owner. We understand the daunting realities of starting and maintaining your own business, so it is important to us that we tailor each session to fit you personally and help you leverage your career.
The Virtual Assistant industry is an extremely successful and competitive business. In fact, over 1.8 billion businesses today are using VA services in some capacity; this is why honing in on your niche is so important. Because there are so many people in the VA industry, it is necessary to KNOW your contribution and your worth, and be confident in your abilities as a business person!
Being a VA is more than just having administrative skills!
Although these skills are essential, it’s also important to have:
- A positive attitude.
- Professionalism.
- Dedication to your clients.
- The ability to be paid according to your skills and experience.
- Having tech skills is a plus!
These skills may seem inconsequential, but they are vital for maintaining relationships with clients and, ultimately, the longevity of your career!
